It’s Maria’s first day at QPG. Her new manager Paul is showing her around the office
Paul : First things first, did you get your security pass at the induction ?
Maria: This?
Paul : Yes that’s it. Hold i in front of the scanner. Wave it about in front of the scanner. Strange, can I try?
Right we’ll use mine . I’ll take this, I’ll call facilities later.
Okay, this is your office here and my office is opposite yours, right here. If we go to the end of this corridor, this room is a H.R. meeting room we don’t have many meeting rooms in the building . So other departments sometimes share it too.
Maria : Is this where I had my interview?
Paul : That’s right and that door over there leads to the stairs , to customer services, the finance departments, sales and marketing and some other departments but if we go this way first, I’ll show you where to find some administrative things.
So, these are our stationery cupboards. You’ll find everything you need in here, pens, paper, folders, staplers, hole punchers, the lot.
Maria: Can I just help myself?
Paul : Yes, anything you need.
Maria : Right,
Paul : And here are all our HR and training forms. We still use hard copies for training courses. Oh, right, well, you know feedback forms aren’t anonymous. If people have to email them, are they (anonymous) ?
Maria : No, of course.
Paul : And these are our photocopiers. Something wrong here ? Anyway, never mind about that. Do I need to show you anything else?
Maria : … uh …toilets.
Paul : Oh yes, if you go to the end of this corridor past the double doors, turn right. The ladies’ are on your left, okay?
Paul : It can feel like a maze, at first. You’ll be fine in a few days. Shall I show you some other departments? I could introduce you to some colleagues, if they’re here.
Maria: Yes that would be good, thank you.
Paul : And this is our corridor again.
Maria: oh yes, well, thanks for the tour.
Paul: yes it’s a shame Anna wasn’t in your office, but at least, you know where it is now, anyway, let’s have a chat about the rest of your day.

It’s Maria’s first day at QPG. Her new. manager Paul is showing her around the office | C’est le premier jour de Maria chez QPG. |
Paul : First things first, did you get your security pass at the induction ? |
Maria: This? | Maria : Ceci? , |
Paul : Yes that’s it. Hold i in front of the scanner. Wave it about in front of the scanner. Strange, can I try? Right we’ll use mine . I’ll take this, I’ll call facilities later. Okay, this is your office here and my office is opposite yours, right here. If we go to the end of this corridor, this room is a jars meeting room we don’t have many meeting rooms in the building . |
| Maria : Je peux me servir (toute seule)? |
Paul : Yes, anything you need. |
Maria : Right, | Maria : D’accord. |
Paul : And here are all our HR and training forms. We still use hard copies for training courses. Oh, right, well, you know feedback forms aren’t anonymous. If people have to email them, are they (anonymous) ? |
Maria : No, of course. | Maria : Ah, d’accord… |
Paul : And these are our photocopiers. Something wrong here ? Anyway, never mind about that. Do I need to show you anything else? |
Maria : … uh …toilets. | Maria : … euh … les toilettes. |
| Maria : Oui, ce serait bien, merci. |
Paul : And this is our corridor again. | Paul : Et voici à nouveau notre couloir. |
Maria: oh yes, well, thanks for the tour. |
Paul: yes it’s a shame Anna wasn’t in your office, but at least, you know where it is now, anyway, let’s have a chat about the rest of your day. |
